Gloucestershire County Council invests £35m in family hub scheme
A council is launching 17 children and family centres to bring services and support closer to County Council said the free events, which support families with children and young people aged up to 19, or up to 25 for those with additional needs, would help address issues hubs are part of a £35m scheme offering services including baby clinics, early years support and parenting advice, as well as help around childcare, health and Ben Evans said "the sooner you intervene and don't let problems grow, the better it is financially for the county council".
"The aim of the family hub model is to ensure all families have access to the right support, at the right time, in the right place," said a council spokesperson.
Jessica Davis from Cheltenham said she was pleased to attend the Gardeners Lane Family Hub in Cheltenham as it gave her a chance to take a short break while her children enjoyed activities like face painting, archery, colouring, soft play, and making fruit McLoughlin, early years strategic lead at Aspire Foundation, said the the aim was for "families to come along, enjoy activities, play and learn but also get some advice".The centres will co-ordinate and facilitate family support activity locally, making it easier for families to find out about the services and support available where they live.
Florence Nyasamo, CEO and founder of Lives of Colour, emphasised the importance of ensuring all women have access to spaces where they can seek advice and support."It's been wonderful to hear from so many women," she launch events are taking place across the county throughout August, in Gloucester, Tewkesbury, Cheltenham, Dursley, Lydney and Cirencester.
